Monumental Advice photography
Hello & Welcome!
Photography has always been my passion- and by photography, I mean old-school film, paper and chemicals photography. There’s something magical about watching images appear out of nothing in the darkroom!
When you get done with a well planned out photo shoot there is always the ‘thrill of the hunt feeling’ in your stomach when you start the developing process. The anxiety always peaks when you remove the lid on the reel canister while praying that what thought were really good pictures ARE REALLY GOOD PICTURES. Occasionally though, they can be a depressing poorly exposed and burry record of your failure!
Through this site, YouTube videos and social media, I hope to give you a scientific approach to shooting and developing expired and fresh color and black and white films. We will developing prints from negatives and learn how to restore old slides and negatives, and other historical prototypes. We will also cover digital photography techniques, picturing editing guides and the benefits of using AI editing for both your digital and negative photography.
Lastly, please take a moment to enjoy our different photo archives of times long gone to current day as well as other worldly adventures. With any images that you see in our archives, if you happen to know more about the location or more about the businesses or people in the picture, please reach out to me. Not only is it exciting to develop and archive these old photos, the ‘Sherlock Holmes’ adventure of finding out where the picture was taken and who is in it is fantastic as well!
If you have film that needs developing, please feel free to reach out to me for specific solution mixes and temperatures to help you, and if you’re not sure where to begin, or do not have the equipment, you can always send your roll to me for developing. I will do my very best to preserve the memories it holds.
If you like what we do, please consider leaving us a donation. This project is our part time job, and funded directly by our day time jobs and donations from fine folks like yourself.
As, always- Stay snappy my friends- go on out there and shoot the world!- (and please share your photos with us!!)
